ABOUT CASCAHUIN X RAREcask CALVADOS

Añejo aged 18 months in Calvados barrels

Available only at the Cascahuin distillery, this special single barrel is the latest collaboration using RAREcask barrels. Inspired by a cocktail made at El Gallo Altanero that used apple brandy, this limited release is an elegant and flavorful sipper that justifies a trip to El Arenal.

Profile

- Roasted agave and baked apple
- Pear, raisin, and golden honey
- Toasted almond and gentle spice
- Vanilla, soft oak, and orchard fruit
- Silky, warming finish

TASTING NOTES

Nose
Roasted agave layered with baked apple, pear, and golden honey. Notes of raisin, toasted almond, vanilla, and gentle cinnamon warmth emerge as it opens.

Palate
Silky and expressive. Cooked agave integrates with apple compote, dried pear, caramelized honey, and soft oak spice. Rounded fruit, light tannin, and a touch of nuttiness provide lift and structure.

Finish
Medium-long and enveloping. Lingering baked apple, toasted oak, soft cinnamon, and dried fruit sweetness fade into a clean, peppery agave backbone.

ABOUT THE BARRELS

Calvados is apple brandy from Normandy, France, often thought of as a cousin to Cognac, but made from apples instead of grapes. Within Calvados, Pays d’Auge is one of the most celebrated expressions, known for its deep orchard-fruit character, gentle spice, and long aging in oak.

These are the barrels used for this release. After years holding Calvados Pays d’Auge, they bring a beautiful thread of baked apple, pear, soft oak, and warm spice into conversation with the roasted agave.

As the House of Rare name is retired from RAREcask barrel collaborations, we wanted to begin this new era with something special.
